About Lori

Relationships are complicated. Families are complicated. And sometimes, even when you love the people in your life, getting along with them can feel like a full-time job.

Maybe you and your partner keep having the same argument without ever resolving anything. Maybe your family struggles to communicate without someone getting frustrated, shutting down, or feeling misunderstood. Or maybe you're the person everyone depends on, and somewhere along the way, you've forgotten how to make room for yourself.

I enjoy working with people through those messy, frustrating, and sometimes exhausting parts of life. I don't expect couples to agree on everything, families to have perfect relationships, or individuals to always know what they need. What matters is being willing to look at what's happening and consider what could be different.

I believe therapy should be a place where we can have real conversations, including the uncomfortable ones. I'm not here to take sides, assign blame, or tell you how to live your life. I'm here to listen, ask questions, offer perspective, and help you see things you may not have noticed before.

Outside of the therapy room, I'm a mom and a softball coach, so I understand that patience, communication, and flexibility don't always come easily, especially when emotions are running high. Life doesn't follow a textbook, and neither do relationships. I appreciate honesty, humor, and people who are willing to show up and keep trying, even when things aren't easy.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe the way we communicate, respond to conflict, and connect with others has a significant impact on our emotional well-being.

When working with couples, I focus on helping partners understand what happens between them when things get difficult. Often, couples aren't just arguing about the dishes, schedules, or who said what. There may be feelings of hurt, resentment, disconnection, or not being appreciated underneath those disagreements. Together, we'll work on recognizing those patterns, communicating more effectively, and finding ways to reconnect.

Family therapy brings its own challenges. Different personalities, expectations, and perspectives can make even simple conversations difficult. I help families look beyond who's right or wrong and focus on understanding each other, improving communication, and working through conflict in healthier ways.

In individual therapy, I enjoy helping people who feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, struggle to set boundaries, or find themselves constantly putting others first. We'll explore what may be contributing to those patterns and how you can begin making changes without feeling guilty for having needs of your own.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and honest. I believe meaningful progress happens when people feel comfortable enough to be themselves, willing to consider different perspectives, and supported as they try new ways of approaching familiar challenges.

Areas of Focus

I work with couples, families, and individuals experiencing:

  • Couples counseling and recurring relationship conflict

  • Family communication and challenging family dynamics

  • Emotional distance and difficulty connecting with loved ones

  • Relationship stress and unresolved disagreements

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional exhaustion

  • Boundaries, people-pleasing, and difficulty saying no

  • Self-worth and confidence

  • Parenting and family-related stress

  • Life transitions and changing relationships

I particularly enjoy working with couples and families who genuinely care about each other but have gotten stuck in patterns that aren't working. Sometimes the issue isn't a lack of love or effort. It's not knowing how to communicate what you need or how to hear what someone else is trying to say.

You don't have to have a perfect relationship or a perfect family to make progress. You just have to be willing to start somewhere.
